Frequency is the world leading internet based communication system for aviation, founded by three airline pilots with over 40 years of flying experience. Frequency was inspired by their daily frustration using an overly complex system that relies on inefficient, unreliable and dated forms of communication.
The Frequency team has the industry experience, technical knowledge and business acumen to complete the digital transformation of airline communications systems through VoIP and multimedia messaging, making flights safer, more efficient and less expensive.
The last couple of years have seen WiFi being rolled out on board most long haul aircraft along with an constantly increasing number of short haul aircraft. In many airlines, employees have been issued company tablets for aircraft manuals and flight plans. Tablets and EFBs have been retrofitted to aircraft to improve performance and further reduce paper in the cockpit. The industry embracing new technology at such a pace has not been seen since the wright brothers.
Frequency is putting a stop to using outdated 19th century technology. Currently airlines use a combination of VHF radios, HF radios, mobile phones, landline phones, satellite phones, CPDLC, ACARS and emails. Each of these methods has its associated limitations and extra costs. Frequency can meet all these communication needs in one, while using existing hardware at substantially reduced costs and significantly improved efficiency and functionality. Unlike existing systems, Frequency is a software solution utilizingthe recently installed on-board Wi-Fi and 4G tablet devices within airlines. Frequency requires minimal capital expenditure, has no range issues, no line of sight issues, can run in parallel with existing systems before replacing them, has better sound quality, can use the optimum method as required (voice, text, photo, file), is less expensive and has minimal capacity constraints.
