Frequency and ESA Take Flight Together

HOW FREQUENCY AND ESA ARE TRANSFORMING AIRLINE OPERATIONS
Air travel is an intricate ballet of moving parts—aircraft, ground staff, air traffic control, operations teams, and passengers—all working together to ensure flights depart and arrive safely and on time. But even today, communication between these teams is often fragmented, delayed, or buried in outdated systems.
THAT IS WHERE FREQUENCY COMES IN.
In partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA) under the ARTES Demonstration Programme, Frequency is building the next generation of airline collaboration tools—designed from the ground up to improve communication, reduce delays, and simplify disruption management.
WHAT IS FREQUENCY?
Frequency is a cloud-based collaboration platform that brings together everyone involved in a flight—pilots, operations controllers, turn coordinators, and maintenance staff—into one intuitive digital space.
Each flight automatically creates its own real-time communication group. No more endless relays or update chains. When a delay happens, the right people are notified instantly. When a gate change occurs, it’s reflected across the team. When a solution is found, it’s coordinated on the spot.
BUILT WITH SPACE IN MIND
With ESA’s support, Frequency doesn’t just rely on ground-based infrastructure. It’s being developed with the resilience and reach of space-based assets, ensuring real-time communication can continue even in low-connectivity environments—such as remote stands, congested airports, or adverse weather events.
This space-enabled edge makes Frequency unique, allowing it to outperform traditional airline ops systems and adapt to future connectivity options—whether via terrestrial, satellite, or hybrid networks.
PROGRESS SO FAR
- Full integration with live flight data feeds is complete.
- Web and mobile applications have been deployed across multiple devices.
- Dynamic “flight group” features are active, enabling role-specific views and alerts.
- Final development is being completed based on direct feedback from Aer Lingus, the project’s launch airline partner.
- A live operational trial at Dublin Airport is being finalized with Aer Lingus.
WHAT’S NEXT?
In the coming weeks, Frequency will begin onboarding real-world users from Aer Lingus, training teams and deploying the system into active airline operations. This trial will not only validate the platform—it will help shape how modern airline communication should work in a digital-first, mobile, and space-connected future.
WHY IT MATTERS
Every minute of delay costs airlines money and passengers’ time. Poor communication causes many of these delays. Frequency, supported by ESA, is proving that smarter, streamlined communication can help the aviation industry fly smarter, safer, and more efficiently.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue testing, iterating, and flying forward—together.
