Frequency is an Irish based internet software communication and collaboration platform for the aviation industry established by three Aer Lingus pilots. Frequency combines the advantages of 8 different communication systems into a singular, simple and easy to use solution which improves disruption management, reducing delays, reducing costs and improving safety for an airline. Frequency allows the airline to share real time information with their team through voice, text, file and photo sharing at any time whether on the ground in the air or at the destination, which hasn’t been possible until now. The company was set up in Dublin in 2018 by three airline pilots with when they identified the need to modernise and digitise what is currently a combination of complicated and outdated communication systems.
Frequency have just announced that they have successfully raised €610k fundraising from a stellar consortium of international and domestic investors including Zoosh Ventures, Spark Crowdfunding and Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start-Ups (HPSU). The funds will be used to further develop their innovative software to a full commercial product. According to the company: “At a time when the aviation industry has been hit hard by the effects of Covid-19, Frequency’s ability to raise these funds, while many aircraft are temporarily grounded, speaks volumes as to the confidence in Frequency’s innovative software to play a key part in improving efficiency and reducing costs for airlines which will be critical to their recovery.”
The new investment round will enable Frequency to further capitalize on its position as a leader in the aviation communications industry in Ireland and internationally. New product innovation is a key area of focus for Frequency, which will enable efficient airline communication and collaboration, improving disruption management and reducing operating costs. The funding will also drive further international expansion.
Niall McEvoy, Manager High Potential Start-Ups (ICT), Enterprise Ireland said: “Frequency is developing a disruptive technology that has the potential to transform digital communications in the airline sector. The platform can offer operational cost savings at a time when the Travel Tech sector has been deeply commercially impacted by Covid19. The founding team have strong domain expertise from their careers in Aer Lingus, giving them a unique understanding of the problem being solved. Enterprise Ireland support will enable the company to further grow their team and accelerate their technology roadmap and we are delighted to support the company as they embark on this stage of their scaling journey.”
